We are seeking a self-motivated Funder to join our dynamic and growing team on the debt side. Peakhill Capital is a commercial real estate capital provider with mortgage investments across all real estate asset classes in Canada. Our equity platform (Peakhill Equity Partners) is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting and supporting various personnel by completing initial funding file set up, instructing external consultants, and processing loan advances.
  • Collect, review, and verify loan documentation and funding information from various stakeholders and third parties.
  • Ensure all pre-funding requirement are met in time for the established funding date and all documentation corresponds to the terms of the commitment and in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policies.
  • Deliver services as contracted and protect confidentiality of loan information.
  • Coordinate with accounting department for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basis.
  • Ensure loan are set up accurately onto mortgage system, review all advances balance and the reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate closely with the origination and underwriting department.


Educational/Technical Experience

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years’ work experience in funding role in Commercial Real Estate.
  • Working knowledge of conventional, commercial and CMHC loans for retail, industrial and multi-family real estate and other forms of commercial real estate.
  • Previous legal background is considered an asset.


Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with a focus in a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of commercial mortgage documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and requires attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with AML and Compliance practice.
  • Self-driven, motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player with the ability to perform extra duties as assigned.
  • Business mindset and experience in a professional office environment.
  • Fluent in French

Responsibilities

  • Manage the talent acquisition process for office employees including sourcing, screening, testing, interviewing, selecting candidates
  • Onboarding: Fully integrate new members of the team during their first 6-12months, providing an engaging experience to improve retention and effectiveness’ in the role
  • Develop recruiting/retention strategies, including talent competition marketplace assessment to effectively compete and motivate talent to achieve business objectives
  • Ensure delivery of pay, benefits, and other reward programs are in alignment with Peakhill’s compensation philosophy
  • Manage employee terminations and resignations. Ensure collection of feedback to support continuous improvement within the company
  • Investigates employee grievances as well as cases on discrimination, harassment and other employee relations allegations
  • Ensure company adheres to legal and legislative compliance. Act within the framework of employment standards and laws in jurisdictions in which the organization operates
  • Coach employees to improve their performance and business relations
  • Create and implement company policies – employee handbook, code of conduct, procedures, etc.


Educational/Technical Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required
  • CHRP designation is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience – talent acquisition or recruitment is essential

  • Knowledge in employment law, organizational planning, employee relations, training and development, talent management, performance management and talent acquisition
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and relationship management skills

Company Description

We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Associate to join our dynamic and growing team on the debt side in Toronto/Montreal/Calgary. Peakhill Capital is a commercial real estate capital provider with mortgage investments across all real estate asset classes in Canada. Our equity platform (Peakhill Equity Partners) is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Role specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct due diligence and investigation to develop an understanding of the borrower’s profile, analyze and interpret financial data, assess the value of the underlying asset, as well as underwrite and fund commercial mortgage transactions
  • Senior Associate will prepare prequalification summaries, term sheets, credit presentations, commitment letters, buy sheets, gather and review conditions precedent and legal documents, and all such related matters to fund loans within tight deadlines
  • Maintain ongoing interaction with clients, including performing site visits, and internal credit committee to ensure thorough underwriting and funding of the loan
  • Staying current with market information and commercial mortgage market trends
  • Build a network within the industry through meetings, events, and involvement in real estate trade organizations


Educational /Technical Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with a focus in business or related field
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ work experience in an underwriting role in Commercial Real Estate


Personal Requirements:

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals with ability to manage multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced level user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to create a new Canadian fixed income fund for HNW, wealth managers and institutions across Canada. Individual will work collaboratively with the leadership team at Peakhill. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for establishing innovative strategies and set risk parameters to achieve superior returns through all market cycles. This role requires extensive industry knowledge and competitive insights. The Portfolio Manager will support members of senior management to achieve annual revenue targets. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of a new fixed income fund
  • Review and monitor investment performance, portfolio risk characteristics and compliance with investment policies and guidelines
  • Ensure appropriate governance oversight and that efficient investment practices and processes are in place
  • Contribute to the strategic and business planning process, including providing recommendations to senior management on investment strategies
  • Oversee compliance matters to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements


Educational/Technical Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CFA designation preferred and PM 
  • 10 + years of experience in portfolio management of a fixed income fund with AUM exceeding 500M


Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge

  • Exceptional track record in fixed income credit long and short. 
  • Experience running fixed income investment funds
  • Experience in credit analysis and asset allocation
  • Experience working closely with investment managers
  • Strong proficiency working with and developing asset liability modelling

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to management and servicing team
  • Provide project management support as directed
  • Prepare mortgage statement, welcome letters, etc. as requested by clients
  • Uploading daily data files to the online banking website
  • Translate English documents to French


Educational/Technical Experience

  • University/College degree in Business Admin or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 years of finance/accounting/mortgage experience
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Mortgage Industry considered an asset
  • Understanding of Mortgage-Backed Securities is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Access
  • Expert knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of Internet and Email Applications (Outlook/Outlook Express)
  • Computer Programming knowledge is an asset
