Associate Director, Credit

Seeking an Associate Director, Credit Risk to support the credit risk and underwriting functions. Reporting to the Director, the ideal candidate would be well versed in complex deal structuring, annual review oversight as well as financial auditing and investor relations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of 4-6 analyst underwriters, providing performance feedback, mentoring, and skill development
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic direction by developing and implementing Risk
- Management strategies, policies, and procedures
- Review commitment letters, credit presentations, and funding checklists for accuracy and compliance
- Participate in credit committee discussions to ensure effective risk identification and mitigation
- Ensure policies and procedures align with CMHC requirements and updates, including changes to the Lender’s Handbook
- Provide feedback to Origination and Analyst teams on evolving credit requirements and common themes
- Conduct due diligence on complex loan applications, analyzing borrower profiles, financial data, and asset value
- Interact with clients and perform site visits to support thorough underwriting and funding processes
- Ability to manage high volume of deal flow with low error rate
- Stay informed about market trends and commercial mortgage developments
- Network within the industry through meetings, events, and involvement in real estate organizations
Qualifications
- University Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
- 4+ years of experience in mortgages, specifically in commercial underwriting
- CMHC insured lending experience preferred
- High attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Understands policies, ensures operations and procedures are aligned to internal investors and CMHC processes and policies

Seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to create a new Canadian fixed income fund for HNW, wealth managers and institutions across Canada. Individual will work collaboratively with the leadership team at Peakhill. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for establishing innovative strategies and set risk parameters to achieve superior returns through all market cycles. This role requires extensive industry knowledge and competitive insights. The Portfolio Manager will support members of senior management to achieve annual revenue targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a new fixed income fund
- Review and monitor investment performance, portfolio risk characteristics and compliance with investment policies and guidelines
- Ensure appropriate governance oversight and that efficient investment practices and processes are in place
- Contribute to the strategic and business planning process, including providing recommendations to senior management on investment strategies

Technical Experience

We are seeking a self-motivated, entrepreneurial individual, reporting to the Director of Finance, to lead the daily operational needs and assist in the accounting for Peakhill’s commercial lending, private equity, and preferred equity businesses. The role will be based in Peakhill’s Toronto office, and it is a full time in-office position.
Responsibilities:
- Daily banking and treasury functions such as wire setup for loan advances, monitoring loan discharges and payouts, and general cash management
- Setup and payment of borrower interest and investor payments
- Monthly reconciliation of trust accounts and subledger maintenance, and ongoing monitoring of trust account activity
- Working closely with the Servicing team, and responding promptly to daily requests
- Collaborating with other accounting team members on month and quarter-end close processes
- Assisting with compilation of information requested by external auditors

Responsibilities
- Reconciling Tax Trust accounts and ensuring reports provided to investors/borrowers are accurate, timely, and in accordance with our internal standards and investor guidelines
- Assisting our funding group with the initial process of lender paid taxes
- Updating our system to accurately reflect and pull payments
- Recording interest with applicable municipalities and remitting payments in a timely manner.
- Provide support to the team with updates on Property & Utilities Status
- Assist in retrieving investor reports and bank statements as required for audit procedures
- Work with internal and external stakeholders (Funding, investors, CMHC, Computershare) to provide various reporting, answer inquiries, and requesting info/updates as required while meeting strict deadlines
- Work with relevant team members in the systems development activities to ensure the financial, management and regulatory requirements are addressed
- Monitoring of Loan requirements throughout the loan. This includes maintaining records of up-to-date payments
- Testing new processes, procedures and software’s.
- Other ad-hoc monthly reporting for internal management as required
Education/Technical Experience
- University/College degree in Business/Accounting or related field is preferred
