My name is Jeffrey Lum, and I am the Managing Director, Corporate Development at Peakhill Capital. In my role, I work across the entire company in a cross-functional manner that encompasses acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and all capital market activities with our banking partners. My responsibilities are focused on building out new credit strategies and products by identifying opportunities that broaden our platform, and drive long-term value for our clients and partners.

One of my proudest achievements at Peakhill has been leading potential acquisitions that continue to grow and strengthen our existing platform. These involve complex, high-stakes processes that bring together the full depth of our organization, from senior leadership to underwriting and finance, all while coordinating with our banking and equity partners through due diligence and analysis. It is a true testament to what this team is capable of when we move together with purpose.

What is one book/podcast/TED talk that has made an impact on you?
Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People” is a timeless read for any leader. My greatest takeaway is the simplest one—smile. It costs nothing, yet it immediately puts people at ease and creates the kind of environment where real relationships can form. Relationships, whether at work or at home, are the foundation of everything.
How have your previous roles shaped the way you lead and operate today?
Having built a business from inception and grown a team in a constantly changing environment, I learned very quickly that it cannot be done alone. Delegation and trust became essential, not optional. Those experiences laid the foundation for how I lead today by empowering my team, trusting their judgement, and creating a culture where mistakes are seen as part of growth.
