My name is Jen Harrop, and I lead our CMHC-insured lending platform at Peakhill Capital. Day to day, this involves working with the team internally to get deals across the finish line for our clients and ensuring that we’re providing best-in-class service to borrowers, securitization partners, and CMHC. I also wear an investor relations hat, working with institutional investors on managed funds and third-party offerings.
I would describe my leadership style as coaching. I have high expectations and I communicate them clearly. Probably the most common phrase the team will hear from me is, “Is there anything you need to accomplish this that you don’t already have?”. I see my role as making sure people have the tools they need to excel and holding them accountable until they get there.
“The single key factor to the team’s success is teaching bright people to do something and then getting out of their way. When I get out of their way, they find ways to make it better, more scalable, and suddenly we see exponential growth.”
Peak Performance
My proudest achievement at Peakhill has been our people. I am amazed at the growth of our team, both individually and as a group. I have never met a group of people more eager to learn and support each other for the broader goal, and it’s humbling to have the opportunity to contribute to the professional growth of so many people.
Securitizing nearly $1B (June 2025) was a pretty knock-your-socks-off moment too.

What is one book/podcast/TED talk that has made an impact on you?
A book that I have resonated with is called “Start at the End: How Companies Can Grow Bigger and Faster by Reversing Their Business Plan”, written by David Lavinsky. Much of the basic premise of the book simplifies a lot of decision-making. With any new line of business, operational change, or any other process, decision-making can get mired in detail and negotiation.
When you start with a really clear purpose or end goal, it takes a lot of the noise out of the conversation. “Does this activity get us there faster? Is it accretive? Does it take us on a detour?”. Following up with steps to success and regular check-ins on measurable KPIs drives focus in a way that works across a broad spectrum of roles and personalities.
How has your team evolved and adapted to regulatory changes while continuing to support borrowers?
The team has grown from an idea tossed around in a meeting room to 10 people in no time flat. Their roles are essential to ensure that deals are getting into CMHC quickly and accurately, so we’re getting the best turnarounds; people who are in the nuts and bolts of securitizing loans, and people who act as bridges between having a deal and getting it done. With an ever-changing environment, we look first to ensure the team fully understands any regulatory changes and how they may impact our borrowers and our operating environment. Then, we look for the good. There are always ways that we can serve our borrower clients in turbulent times, so we identify our opportunities and put a plan in action together as a team.
