Our equity platform (Peakhill Equity Partners) is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Role specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews all CMHC applications prior to submission to CMHC in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance
    Manages tight Service Level Agreements to turn around internal and correspondent applications
    Responsible to ensure all Peakhill policies and procedures are aligned with CMHC’s requirements, including changes to the Lender’s Handbook and subsequent guidance as distributed by CMHC from time to time.
    Develops and facilitates strong ongoing relationship with CMHC’s multi-unit underwriting group, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction with application quality.
    Provides ongoing feedback to the origination and analyst teams on CMHC requirements as they change or as common themes are identified
    Leads the team for all audits relating to the CMHC program at Peakhill, leveraging credit team as necessary.


Educational /Technical Experience:

  • University/College degree in Business Admin or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of finance/accounting/mortgage experience
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Mortgage Industry
  • Understanding of Mortgage-Backed Securities and CMHC requirements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Access
  • Expert knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of Internet and Email Applications (Outlook/Outlook Express)


Qualifications:

  • High attention to detail: Responsible for Quality control, ensuring accuracy
  • Able to manage a high volume of work with low error rate
  • Understands policies, ensures operations and procedures are aligned to CMHC

We are seeking a self-motivated Funder to join our dynamic and growing team on the debt side. Peakhill Capital is a commercial real estate capital provider with mortgage investments across all real estate asset classes in Canada. Our equity platform (Peakhill Equity Partners) is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting and supporting various personnel by completing initial funding file set up, instructing external consultants, and processing loan advances.
  • Collect, review, and verify loan documentation and funding information from various stakeholders and third parties.
  • Ensure all pre-funding requirement are met in time for the established funding date and all documentation corresponds to the terms of the commitment and in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policies.
  • Deliver services as contracted and protect confidentiality of loan information.
  • Coordinate with accounting department for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basis.
  • Ensure loan are set up accurately onto mortgage system, review all advances balance and the reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate closely with the origination and underwriting department.


Educational/Technical Experience

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years’ work experience in funding role in Commercial Real Estate.
  • Working knowledge of conventional, commercial and CMHC loans for retail, industrial and multi-family real estate and other forms of commercial real estate.
  • Previous legal background is considered an asset.


Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with a focus in a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of commercial mortgage documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and requires attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with AML and Compliance practice.
  • Self-driven, motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player with the ability to perform extra duties as assigned.

Peakhill’s equity platform, Peakhill Equity Partners is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Seeking an experienced commercial real estate loan originator to originate $100-200M annually throughout Canada. Experience with CMHC, multi-family, industrial, retail and office properties are required. Looking for a credit background along with existing or ability to establish new developer clients. Peakhill provides bridge, construction and long term financing focused on loans $5-50M throughout Canada. Must be a licensed mortgage agent in Quebec or real estate agent.


Success in this role requires:

We are seeking a self-motivated, entrepreneurial individual, reporting to the Director of Finance, to lead the daily operational needs and assist in the accounting for Peakhill’s commercial lending, private equity, and preferred equity businesses. The role will be based in Peakhill’s Toronto office, and it is a full time in-office position.


Responsibilities:

  • Daily banking and treasury functions such as wire setup for loan advances, monitoring loan discharges and payouts, and general cash management
  • Setup and payment of borrower interest and investor payments
  • Monthly reconciliation of trust accounts and subledger maintenance, and ongoing monitoring of trust account activity
  • Working closely with the Servicing team, and responding promptly to daily requests
  • Collaborating with other accounting team members on month and quarter-end close processes
  • Assisting with compilation of information requested by external auditors
  • Supporting the implementation and onboarding of new borrowers, investors or funds as needed
  • Collaborating with IT, Servicing and/or Director of Finance on automation and process improvement projects
  • Responding to inquiries and requests from other departments on a timely basis
  • Liaising with external service providers as needed, like banking partners, technology vendors, or external auditors
  • Continuously improve and develop new finance processes and schedules
  • Building a network within the industry through events and involvement in real estate trade organizations.


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, finance, or another related field

  • CPA designation or currently in progress preferred, but not required

  • 3+ years of accounting, operations and cash management experience

  • Exposure to real estate, financial services and/or private enterprises is considered an asset

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent knowledge of finance, accounting and business concepts

  • Highly proficient with MS applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, and QuickBooks or comparable accounting software

  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and be flexible in response to changing priorities and needs
